Screen Canberra Appoints Games Administrator to Support Growing Local Industry
Tuesday, 10 February
Screen Canberra has appointed award-winning games industry leader Jarrod Farquhar-Nicol as its first Games Administrator.
Jarrod brings more than a decade of experience to the role and is best known for event management and community leadership through CanDev and previously Game Plus. He has provided playtesting, game design, narrative, and business feedback to development teams across Australia and has served on several screen and games panels.
The newly created role will help Screen Canberra better support the ACT’s game maker community and administer the Canberra Screen and Games Fund. This new Fund launched in December 2025 as part of the ACT Government’s commitment to grow and strengthen the creative industry sector.
Australia’s games industry continues to show strong growth, generating $339.1 million in revenue in 2024, with 93% exported to international markets. Key industry agencies and government bodies are also making significant investments, recognising games as an area with substantial economic and employment benefits.
“Jarrod brings the expertise and industry connections we need at this pivotal time for Canberra’s games sector,” said Holly Trueman, CEO of Screen Canberra. “His position will increase our capacity to deliver meaningful support to local game makers. We’re thrilled to have him join the team.”
