Media Release: Screen Australia Launches First Nations Factual Co-Production Development Fund
Wednesday, 20 May
Screen Australia’s First Nations Department, in partnership with Screen Canberra and state and territory screen agencies across the country, has launched the First Nations Factual Co-production Development Fund, a new national program designed to strengthen First Nations screen businesses and elevate Indigenous storytelling in global markets.
The program will support up to five First Nations businesses to develop factual projects with genuine international co-production potential, while building global market experience. Each successful applicant receives a $30,000 grant covering the development of two factual projects and attendance at TIFF: The Market in Canada.
First Nations-owned and operated production companies led by Indigenous practitioners are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be mid-to-established career practitioners with at least two documentary screen credits, or 60 minutes of broadcast factual content, and must be available to attend TIFF: The Market from 10 to 16 September 2026.
Applications close: Thursday 4 June 2026, 5.00pm AEST
